2027 Technology Summer Internship – Early Careers (Software Engineering - California)

About the role

Ten-week Wells Fargo Technology Summer Internship for aspiring software engineers in California’s San Francisco Bay Market Area. Interns work on production-aligned applications, modern development practices, AI-enabled workflows, cloud platforms, APIs, data environments, and enterprise-scale technology while receiving structured training, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable applications, enhancements, bug fixes, and new enterprise services.
• Collaborate in Agile Scrum or Kanban teams to deliver secure, maintainable, high-quality code.
• Use approved AI tools for testing, documentation, refactoring, prototyping, and developer productivity workflows.
• Review and govern AI-generated code with senior engineers against architecture, risk, security, and regulatory standards.
• Build APIs, microservices, cloud applications, data pipelines, reusable frameworks, and distributed-system solutions.
• Partner with architecture, product, and platform teams on technical service evolution and AI-enabled capabilities.

Program And Technology

• The program provides structured training, mentorship, and networking with senior technology leaders.
• Technology includes Java, .NET Core, Python, JavaScript, React, Node.js, Angular, SQL, and MongoDB.
• Platforms and tools include OpenShift, Azure, Google Cloud, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and analytics environments.
• Participants may explore machine-learning frameworks, prompt engineering, intelligent automation, predictive insights, and natural-language interfaces.
• Successful interns may be considered for the following year’s full-time Technology Analyst Program.
• Full-time location placement will align with the location where the internship was completed.

Requirements

• At least six months of work experience or equivalent experience through work, training, military experience, or education.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field.
• Expected graduation must be between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Foundational knowledge of programming, SQL, cloud technologies, algorithms, data structures, APIs, testing, or deployment.
• Demonstrated exposure to AI-assisted development tools and familiarity with responsible AI or prompt engineering.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, initiative, curiosity, and interpersonal skills are preferred.

Location And Conditions

• The internship is California-only within the San Francisco Bay Market Area.
• Available locations are Concord, San Leandro, and San Francisco, California.
• The position requires onsite presence at a required location under a hybrid work schedule.
• Candidates must pass a required technology skills assessment.
• The position does not offer visa sponsorship; candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.
