Virtu offers a 10-week software engineering internship in Austin or New York, focusing on developing proprietary trading systems with mentorship and real projects.

Program Details

• 10-week internship from June 7 to August 13, 2027, with some flexibility.
• Locations: Austin, TX and New York, NY.
• Includes a global training week in New York or Austin.
• Ongoing training throughout the summer.
• Interns work on real development projects with senior mentors.

Role and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize proprietary low-latency trading systems.
• Work on trading algorithms and tools supporting high-performance systems.
• Improve scalability, performance, and efficiency of trading systems.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on challenging development projects.
• Gain hands-on experience with large-scale data and trading system architecture.
• Engage in both frontend and backend programming tasks.

Requirements

• Rising juniors or students graduating between Dec 2026 and June 2027.
• Strong academic background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• Proficient in Python and either Java or C++ programming.
• Experience with JavaScript is a plus.
• Outstanding quantitative problem-solving and mathematical skills.
• Motivated, independent, and team-oriented with initiative and problem-solving skills.
