About the role

UBS’s 10-week paid internship in Raleigh offers students graduating December 2027–June 2028 practical experience in Group Risk Control. Interns support financial risk identification, analysis, monitoring, reporting, and control improvement while applying data, automation, and approved AI tools. The program includes mentoring, networking, development activities, and potential return to the Graduate Talent Program.

Responsibilities

  • Support risk identification, assessment, monitoring, analysis, and reporting across credit, market, treasury, model, and enterprise risk.
  • Analyze financial and non-financial data to identify trends, anomalies, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to portfolio reviews, scenario analysis, risk modeling, regulatory initiatives, dashboards, and recurring risk reports.
  • Map processes and explore approved automation or AI tools to improve efficiency, consistency, and decision support.
  • Validate AI-assisted outputs for accuracy, relevance, reliability, data quality, and appropriate use with human oversight.
  • Collaborate with risk, data, technology, and business colleagues; communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Team

  • Group Risk Control identifies, assesses, advises on, monitors, and reports financial risks across the firm.
  • Raleigh capabilities include quantitative modeling, scenario analysis, treasury risk, model validation, credit risk, and risk frameworks.
  • Interns work with experienced colleagues across different risk disciplines in a collaborative, technology-enabled environment.

Program experience

  • Receive guidance from managers, mentors, and peers while contributing to day-to-day activities and meaningful projects.
  • Develop practical risk management knowledge and strengthen analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Participate in networking, development, community activities, and an innovation project addressing a real risk or control challenge.
  • Present work and recommendations to colleagues and leaders; successful interns may receive a future Graduate Talent Program offer.

Eligibility

  • Graduate between December 2027 and June 2028 with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
  • Demonstrate interest in risk management, financial services, data, business analysis, or emerging technology.
  • Show strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ownership, adaptability, and structured-thinking skills.
  • Be curious about responsible AI use and willing to learn new tools as technology and business needs evolve.
  • Students from all majors are welcome, including finance, economics, business, accounting, mathematics, statistics, data science, and engineering.

Preferred skills and additional information

  • Exposure to Excel, data visualization, dashboarding, Python, R, SQL, statistics, financial modeling, or quantitative methods is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of generative AI, workflow automation, low-code tools, APIs, or process redesign is advantageous.
  • The position is not eligible for employment-based immigration sponsorship or assistance with OPT or CPT documentation.
