About the role

Scotiabank’s Velocity Data Analyst internship/co-op offers a January–April 2027 work term in Toronto. You’ll analyze business requirements, data sources, processes, and performance metrics; prepare dashboards and forecasts; and recommend process improvements. The role includes training, coaching, student events, and exposure across Scotiabank and Tangerine.

Responsibilities

  • Define business requirements and processes with teams and internal partners; measure project progress, success, and business impact.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards supporting strategic decisions, including trend analysis, projections, forecasts, and statistical modelling.
  • Investigate data sources, transform data, and determine appropriate interpretations for analysis.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements; create diagrams, flowcharts, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements while coordinating multiple deliverables.

Role Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education with strong written, verbal communication, and project management skills.
  • Manage processes and planning, facilitate teamwork, and coordinate execution across multiple deliverables.
  • Interpret and consolidate large volumes of information into actionable recommendations using sound judgment.
  • Clean, transform, and visualize large datasets across formats including XML, JSON, SAS, CSV, and unstructured logs.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView, plus SQL, DB2, MySQL, Python, or R.
  • Create reports and communicate key performance indicators to non-technical audiences.

Program and Application

  • The work term runs January–April 2027 in Toronto, with a 37.5-hour work week.
