About the role

Four-month Capital Markets internship in Scotiabank’s Montreal interest rate and foreign exchange derivatives sales team. Interns support client coverage, market analysis, reporting, pricing, and trade administration while developing financial-market expertise, receiving mentorship and training, and collaborating with Corporate and Investment Banking, Trading, Risk, and other teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of financial markets, global interest-rate levels, and foreign-exchange price movements.
• Provide backup coverage for senior sales staff, including client inquiries, calls, and trade requests.
• Monitor option expiries, generate reports, and maintain trade databases.
• Produce economic reports and presentations for internal and external partners.
• Use Bloomberg to support pricing, data collection, and analysis.
• Collaborate with Corporate and Investment Banking, Trading, Risk, and other client-ecosystem teams.

Development and Compliance

• Contribute to strategies that hedge financial risks for corporate and commercial clients.
• Participate in mentorship, ongoing coaching, feedback, orientation, and student development events.
• Complete a capstone project exploring another business area and building professional relationships.
• Follow applicable acts, policies, and regulations to protect the Bank from unnecessary risk and loss.
