About the role

Scotiabank’s Aspire Commercial Banking placement offers undergraduate students hands-on experience in credit, financial analysis, and lending decisions. Based in Toronto from January to August 2027, interns may support Mid-Market, National Accounts, Real Estate Banking, or Roynat Capital teams while developing analytical, communication, and professional judgment skills.

Placement Areas

  • Mid-Market: Support research, company and industry analysis, financial analysis, and credit or business decisions for mid-sized businesses.
  • National Accounts: Gain exposure to complex transactions, advanced credit analysis, and strategic considerations affecting major organizations.
  • Real Estate Banking: Support commercial real estate transactions, project and portfolio analysis, credit adjudication, and financing decisions.
  • Roynat Capital: Contribute to financial analysis, underwriting, investment summaries, risk mitigation, and portfolio management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support credit and relationship teams with research, financial analysis, and transaction-related activities.
  • Analyze company performance, financial statements, industries, and market conditions to inform credit and business decisions.
  • Contribute to credit submissions, underwriting requirements, investment summaries, and recommendations.
  • Consider financing structures, client objectives, risk considerations, and the Bank’s risk appetite in lending decisions.
  • Collaborate across Commercial Banking to provide timely, high-quality support and improve business outcomes.
  • Build analytical, communication, and professional judgment skills in a structured, collaborative environment.
