About the role
Scotiabank’s 12-month Commercial Accelerate Program develops new graduates into Agricultural Commercial Bankers through rotational assignments, credit training, mentorship, workshops, and hands-on client work. Based in Saskatoon, participants analyze financial information, structure and adjudicate credit, develop commercial relationships, and provide tailored lending and banking solutions to agriculture clients.
Responsibilities
- Build productive relationships with commercial partners and support team strategies and objectives.
- Develop internal and external profiles to identify business opportunities and support revenue growth.
- Analyze financial information, structure deals, adjudicate credit, and present complex credit proposals.
- Provide tailored solutions using client needs analysis, financial analysis, and relevant banking tools.
- Apply lending policies, risk assessment, collateral documentation, collection strategies, legislation, and accounting practices.
- Integrate the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture into daily decisions and activities.
Program Experience
- Complete rotational assignments and coach-supported experiences across Agriculture over 12 months.
- Receive training in financial and technical analysis, products, services, industry tools, and technologies.
- Access workshops, hands-on learning, team projects, individual learning, and engagement activities.
- Receive support from a Program Manager, Peer Mentor, Peer Coach, and Business Coach.
- Participate in structured feedback with mentors and peers throughout the program.
- Be willing to relocate within the designated region if required after program completion.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Demonstrate strong financial literacy, including financial statement interpretation and understanding of credit fundamentals.
- Show genuine interest in agriculture and enthusiasm for agriculture banking.
- Bring attention to detail, curiosity, analytical problem-solving ability, and a results-driven mindset.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively in fast-paced, agile environments.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in written and verbal formats.
