About the role
Four-month Toronto internship supporting mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate restructuring, and capital allocation initiatives. The role involves financial analysis, industry research, valuation, due diligence, executive presentations, sale processes, and ad hoc projects within Scotiabank’s M&A team.
Responsibilities
- Analyze financial metrics for acquisition targets and comparable companies.
- Research targets and industries, including valuation, shareholder analysis, and profitability trends.
- Prepare presentations for executive discussion and approval.
- Support due diligence by assessing transaction impacts on operations, earnings, ROE, and capital.
- Participate in sale processes, including populating and managing the dataroom.
- Support restructuring, capital allocation, operating, financial, and tax-efficiency initiatives; complete ad hoc projects.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
- Familiarity with basic finance concepts and financial statements.
- Familiarity with financial modelling, Bloomberg, and other research platforms.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Curious and analytical, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Program Details
- Work term runs from January 2027 through April 2027, with 37.5 hours per week.
- Includes in-depth role training, ongoing coaching, feedback, and bank-wide orientation.
- Student events include Scotia Student Day, Lunch & Learns, and leadership panels.
- Top-performing interns may receive support establishing future placements across Scotiabank and Tangerine.
