About the role

Scotiabank’s Houston Insights Day provides a two-day, in-person introduction to Investment Banking, followed by consideration for the 2028 Summer Analyst Internship in the Power & Utilities team. Interns gain hands-on experience supporting financing, mergers and acquisitions, valuation, research, deal execution, presentations, and client pitches.

Program Details

  • Insights Day is a selective, two-day, in-person experience at Scotiabank’s Houston office.
  • Includes workshops, panels, networking, professional development, and a day-in-the-life Investment Banking experience.
  • The program concludes with a Superday interview for the 2028 Investment Banking Summer Analyst Internship.
  • Travel and lodging expenses are covered for students outside commuting distance.
  • Attendance is required at all Insights Day events.

Internship Responsibilities

  • Support client pitches and deal execution across Investment Banking assignments.
  • Build financial models and perform company and transaction valuations.
  • Conduct industry and company research for client and transaction materials.
  • Prepare marketing materials and presentations.
  • Gain exposure to debt and equity financing, mergers and acquisitions, and financial advisory work.

Training And Development

  • Receive in-depth training and ongoing coaching throughout the internship.
  • Access leadership panels, technical workshops, and exclusive professional development events.
  • Insights Day includes interview preparation for Investment Banking roles and networking with mentors and hiring managers.

Requirements

  • Pursue an undergraduate degree, ideally in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business.
  • Graduate between December 2028 and Spring 2029.
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement.
  • Show strong quantitative skills in financial analysis, accounting, and financial theory.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, attention to detail, teamwork, integrity, adaptability, and independent decision-making.
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining a high standard of work and demonstrating enthusiasm to learn.
