About the role
Winter 2027 internship with Scotiabank’s Global Capital Markets Banking team in Toronto. The role supports financial institution client relationships through credit analysis, due diligence, financial and regulatory research, risk reporting, and exposure to derivatives, foreign exchange, commodities, fixed income, and equity businesses.
Responsibilities
- Analyze financial information, counterparty risk profiles, and investment strategies supporting new client business.
- Prepare and maintain executive summaries and risk summary reports for the GCM Banking portfolio.
- Support credit-related requests, including client due diligence and financial, industry, and regulatory analysis.
- Prepare summary charts and tables for credit submissions and liaise with GBM and risk teams.
Development and Training
- Receive on-the-job exposure to derivatives, foreign exchange, commodities, fixed income, and equity businesses.
- Access mentorship, coaching, skill-building modules, and challenging work-integrated learning opportunities.
- Participate in bank-wide orientation, student events, leadership panels, and Lunch & Learns.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education with strong academic and extracurricular achievement.
- Demonstrated interest in Global Capital Markets and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet demanding deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Ability to work in teams, adapt quickly, maintain high standards, and demonstrate integrity.
- Energy, willingness to learn, and involvement in activities such as clubs, conferences, competitions, or hackathons.
