About the role

Scotiabank’s Business Deposits Portfolio Management intern will support deposit initiatives, market-rate analysis, reporting, process improvements, and internal communications. The role offers practical exposure to portfolio governance, balance-sheet growth, profitability objectives, and cross-functional collaboration within the Global Transaction Banking team in Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Support deposit initiatives using data analysis and insights to improve competitiveness, balance-sheet growth, and revenue.
  • Review competitor rates for Business Accounts and GICs, compiling weekly findings for internal comparison.
  • Maintain deposit trackers and support weekly and monthly reporting requirements.
  • Handle ad hoc data requests, reports, assignments, and special projects from senior management.
  • Coordinate team activity schedules and assist with improving deposit portfolio processes and procedures.
  • Create presentations and communications supporting internal partners, management, executives, and strategic decision-making.

Program Details

  • Winter 2027 work term runs from January through April 2027, with 37.5 working hours weekly.
  • The program includes in-depth role training, ongoing coaching, feedback, orientation, and student development events.
  • Applicants complete a PLUM Profile, save a screenshot, complete a one-way video interview, and upload the screenshot instead of a resume.
  • The position is based in Toronto, Ontario, within Scotiabank’s Global Transaction Banking team.

Requirements

  • Completed post-secondary education in business or a related area.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, prioritization, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Detailed-oriented approach with the ability to convert complex information into clear summaries.
  • Proven Excel skills for managing multiple deposit portfolio governance trackers.
  • Proven PowerPoint skills for creating content supporting deposit resources.
  • Creative, curious, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualification

  • Prior banking experience is considered an asset.
