About the role

Scotiabank’s Houston Corporate Banking Summer Internship offers students practical experience supporting client coverage, deal origination, financial analysis, credit evaluation, transaction execution, and industry research. Interns collaborate with senior bankers and multiple teams while contributing to corporate finance projects, client materials, lending opportunities, and strategic initiatives in a demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support client coverage, deal origination, transaction structuring, and execution activities.
  • Conduct financial analysis, advanced financial modelling, industry research, and due diligence.
  • Assist with lending opportunity analysis, credit presentations, and recommendations for internal approval.
  • Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations covering corporate finance and industry trends.
  • Develop marketing collateral and client-facing presentations with Industry Coverage and Portfolio Management teams.
  • Interact with other Bank departments while supporting team goals, business strategies, and client relationships.

Potential Coverage Areas

  • Support sectors including Power and Utilities, Industrials, Retail, Energy, Technology, and Financial Institutions.
  • Additional coverage may include Automotive, Consumer and Retail, and other corporate banking sectors.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in progress, with expected graduation between December 2027 and August 2028.
  • Demonstrated outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities.
  • Clearly defined interest in Corporate Banking.
  • Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting, and financial theory.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
