About the role
This Winter 2027 co-op supports Scotiatrust Taxation Services in Toronto. The Tax Administrator prepares income tax returns, analyzes client tax situations, researches tax rules, and supports compliant, efficient operations. The role suits a currently enrolled post-secondary student with strong computer, organizational, writing, customer-service, and detail-oriented skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare income tax returns by gathering and analyzing supporting documentation, tax slips, transactions, deductions, credits, and capital gains or losses.
- Discuss tax rules and elections with Tax Officers, Associate Tax Officers, and the Manager, Taxation.
- Assess client tax situations, conduct detailed analysis and research, and suggest actions for less complex situations.
- Support customer-focused service and deepen client relationships by leveraging broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Apply the Bank’s risk appetite, risk culture, policies, procedures, and business controls in daily activities.
- Support compliant operations addressing operational, regulatory, AML/ATF, and conduct risks.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
- Strong computer skills, including tax preparation programs and Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Knowledge of Salesforce and the Broadridge Trust System.
- Detail-oriented, organized, customer-service focused, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Takes initiative and works effectively with minimal direction.
- Strong writing skills and exceptional attention to detail.
