About the role
This Ottawa internship supports Scotiatrust Taxation Services from January to April 2027. The Tax Administrator prepares income tax returns, analyzes client tax situations, researches tax rules, and supports compliant, efficient operations while developing practical experience within Scotiabank’s wealth management business.
Responsibilities
- Prepare income tax returns using supporting documents, income statements, transactions, tax slips, gains, losses, deductions, and credits.
- Discuss tax rules and elections with tax officers and managers, analyze client situations, and suggest actions for less complex cases.
- Support customer-focused relationships by leveraging broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Follow risk, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF, conduct, sales practices, and operational control requirements.
- Promote effective and efficient operations while adhering to internal policies, procedures, and governing regulations.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
- Strong computer skills, including tax preparation programs, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Knowledge of Salesforce and the Broadridge Trust System.
- Detail-oriented, organized, customer-focused, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong writing skills, exceptional attention to detail, and initiative when working with minimal direction.
