About the role

Ten-week software engineering internship in New York within Schonfeld’s Technology division. Interns work with senior developers on applications and platforms supporting research and trading, while completing a team-related summer project. The program includes manager and mentor support, learning and networking opportunities, and potential consideration for a full-time offer.

Role and Teams

  • Join an experienced software engineering team within Schonfeld’s Technology division for a ten-week internship.
  • Potential Treasury Technology assignments support securities lending, financing, repo trading, FX hedging, collateral, and margin optimization.
  • Potential Compliance Technology assignments support trade monitoring, position limits, surveillance, trading restrictions, and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, and support applications, features, and platforms within an Agile framework.
  • Work alongside senior developers to improve research and trading platform functionality, performance, stability, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Complete a summer-long project related to the assigned team and present the project at program completion.

Program Experience

  • Receive guidance from an assigned manager and mentor throughout the internship.
  • Participate in team-building events, lunch-and-learns, social activities, skills workshops, and networking with senior management.
  • Finance experience is not required; business knowledge needed to complete assigned tasks will be taught.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in a technical or quantitative field.
  • Demonstrated software engineering skills through previous internships, coding competitions, or publications.
  • Interest or experience in a programming language, including C++, Java, Python, or similar languages.
  • Basic knowledge of Git and databases.
  • Passion for software development, solving business problems, creativity, and quick problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, ownership, and interest in capital markets or finance.
