About the role

This ten-week cybersecurity operations internship places you within Schonfeld’s Technology division, supporting incident response, threat monitoring, hunting, intelligence, vulnerability management, detection, automation, and security posture activities. You will work on real-world projects with cybersecurity professionals, receive mentorship, and present your summer project to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with incident response and continuously review security alerts with vendors.
  • Identify undetected attacks, improve detection pipelines, and strengthen the firm’s security posture.
  • Analyze threat intelligence and model adversaries to focus monitoring and hunting activities.
  • Monitor attack surfaces, validate vulnerabilities, prioritize remediation, and conduct risk assessments.
  • Enhance detection rules, improve alert fidelity, and create response runbooks.
  • Implement SOAR and scripting methods to improve delivery speed and consistency.

Program Experience

  • Complete a summer-long project directly related to the team’s work and present it to leadership.
  • Receive support from a dedicated manager and mentor throughout the internship.
  • Participate in team-building events, lunch-and-learns, social activities, and networking with senior management.
  • Attend learning sessions and hands-on skills workshops during the internship program.

Requirements

  • Be a junior pursuing a degree in information systems, technology risk, or cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrate strong interest in cybersecurity through internships, part-time work, extracurricular activities, or classes.
  • Bring creativity, quick problem-solving ability, and strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Show strong interest in taking ownership of tasks and projects.
  • No prior finance experience is required; passion for technology and curiosity about cybersecurity are expected.
