About the role
RBC Amplify is an intensive summer innovation internship in Toronto for developers who want to solve real business challenges. Working in a cross-functional team, interns research, design, build, and pitch a functional prototype using modern technologies while receiving mentorship, technical training, and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on a business challenge and develop an innovative product or solution for RBC.
- Research, design, create, and deliver a fully functional prototype addressing a real business need.
- Work with business, data, and programming specialists in a cross-functional team.
- Use current and industry-standard technologies, tools, and development practices.
- Work with subject matter experts, mentors, executive sponsors, and technology and business stakeholders.
- Present the project, strategy, and communications to RBC stakeholders and executives.
Program Experience
- Participate in an intensive summer innovation program within a flexible, start-up-style environment.
- Receive access to subject matter experts, coaches, mentors, and technical and professional resources.
- Engage in training covering design thinking, agile development, and other tools.
- Collaborate with students from diverse backgrounds on real RBC projects with potential lasting impact.
- Develop teamwork, critical thinking, communication, leadership, and adaptability skills.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and graduating between August 2027 and June 2028.
- Understand programming languages, databases, platforms, frameworks, design techniques, code management, or web technologies.
- Understand Agile methodologies and processes.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication, leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Be creative, analytical, self-driven, comfortable in fast-paced environments, and willing to challenge the status quo.
- Have experience in at least one listed technical area, including cloud, mobile, DevOps, full-stack, or API development.
Additional Qualifications
- Hackathon experience and comfort presenting to stakeholders or large audiences are advantageous.
- Interest or previous experience in financial services or FinTech is advantageous.
- Practical web or mobile development experience is advantageous.
- Experience with Agile, design thinking, or Figma is advantageous.
- Relevant technologies include Spring Frameworks, Angular, NodeJS, Flask, REST, and GraphQL.
