About the role
RBC Amplify is an intensive summer innovation program in Toronto for students graduating between August 2026 and June 2027. As a Developer, you will collaborate in a cross-functional team, research business challenges, build a functional prototype using modern technologies, and present your solution to RBC stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on real RBC business challenges within a cross-functional team of business, data, and programming specialists.
- Research, design, create, and deliver a fully functional prototype addressing a real business need.
- Use cutting-edge and industry-standard technologies to develop an innovative product or solution.
- Work with subject matter experts, mentors, executive sponsors, and technology and business stakeholders.
- Develop project strategy and communications, then present the solution to executive stakeholders at summer’s end.
- Apply teamwork, critical thinking, communication, leadership, and adaptability in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
Training and Development
- Access technical and professional training, subject matter experts, coaches, mentors, and development resources.
- Participate in continuous learning covering design thinking, Agile development, and other tools.
- Engage with RBC leaders through coaching and learning opportunities.
- Build specific skills through real projects and collaboration with students from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in college, undergraduate, master’s, or PhD studies, graduating between August 2026 and June 2027.
- Understand programming languages, databases, platforms, frameworks, design techniques, code management tools, or web technologies.
- Understand Agile methodologies and processes.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Be creative, analytical, self-driven, collaborative, and comfortable challenging the status quo.
- Have experience in at least one area: cloud platforms, mobile development, DevOps, full-stack technologies, or API development.
Nice to Have
- Hackathon experience and practical web or mobile development experience.
- Comfort presenting to stakeholders and large audiences.
- Interest or previous experience in financial services or FinTech.
- Experience with Agile or design thinking methodologies or frameworks.
- Experience using Figma.
