About the role
RBC Amplify is an intensive summer innovation internship in Toronto for students graduating between August 2027 and June 2028. As a Data Engineer, you will collaborate within a cross-functional team, develop a functional prototype addressing a real RBC business challenge, and pitch your solution to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Immerse yourself in a business challenge and collaborate on developing an innovative product.
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and deliver a fully functional prototype solving a real business need.
- Work with subject matter experts, mentors, and executive sponsors across technology and business.
- Apply teamwork, critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills in an ambiguous environment.
- Present your project to executives and develop its strategy and communications.
- Participate in continuous learning involving design thinking, agile development, and related tools.
Program Details
- Collaborate with business, data, and programming specialists in a flexible, startup-style environment.
- Access coaches, mentors, subject matter experts, technical training, professional training, and development resources.
- Build a product that addresses a real RBC business challenge and pitch it at summer’s end.
- Work 37.5 hours per week in a full-time, student/co-op fixed-term position in Toronto.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and graduating between August 2027 and June 2028.
- Understand programming languages, databases, platforms, frameworks, design techniques, code management, or web technologies.
- Have experience with data transformation, engineering, cleaning, mining, or modern data science techniques.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Be creative, analytical, self-driven, adaptable, and effective in a fast-paced environment.
- Have one or more of the following: machine learning, artificial intelligence, APIs, databases, or data visualization experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience participating in hackathons.
- Interest or previous experience in financial services or FinTech.
- Practical web or mobile development experience.
- Experience with agile or design thinking methodologies or frameworks.
