About the role

RBC offers a 4-8 month Cyber Security Analyst co-op internship in Toronto or Vancouver. Interns analyze data to detect cyber threats, propose solutions, and update threat intelligence. Candidates must be enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution in relevant fields.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform exploratory analysis on various data sources to detect cyber threats.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends and patterns.
  • Present findings using data visualization techniques.
  • Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges.
  • Preprocess structured and unstructured data.
  • Share intelligence findings with relevant partners and communities.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Update intelligence knowledgebase and threat profiles as needed.
  • Proactively search for threats and suspicious behavior within the enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain process and procedure documentation.
  • Stay current with the evolving threat landscape.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution in computer science, technology, engineering, or business analysis.
  • Leadership acumen and passion for dynamic business environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative, analytical thinker capable of working in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong MS Office skills including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience or understanding of Hadoop, Tableau, Splunk, SQL, and/or VBA.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience in data integration of disparate data sources.
  • Knowledge of analytics technologies, architecture, and data warehouse concepts.
  • Relational database concepts and design experience.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new business and system concepts.
  • Understanding of incident handling, forensics, risk assessment, and automated security monitoring.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Unix operating systems.
