About the role
Join RBC's ECT AI and Automation team as a Data Scientist Intern for 4 months starting January 2027. Support analytics, data mining, and automation initiatives to optimize processes and enable data-driven decisions.
Role and Responsibilities
- Learn and apply new tools and technologies in daily analytics tasks.
- Support Enterprise Control Testing with analytics and collaborate across teams.
- Implement heuristic, data mining, and statistical analysis using Python and other tools.
- Use visualization tools to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Translate data insights into actionable decisions through storytelling.
- Work on challenging initiatives using statistics and heuristic approaches.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative, analytical, self-driven, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong coding skills with Python and SQL.
- Experience in data profiling, cleaning, mining, and technical documentation.
- Hands-on experience with git/version control.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Linux environment and shell scripting.
- Knowledge of NLP-based algorithms.
- Familiarity with AI solutions and development.
- Background in software engineering focused on statistics or analytics.
Program Details
- 4-month student placement from January to April 2027.
- Must return to school after placement or require the full 4-month term to graduate.
- Located in Ontario for the duration of the work term.
- Full-time, salaried position with 37.5 hours per week.
