About the role
Join RBC Capital Markets’ Electronic Market Making group as an Algorithmic Trading Developer in Toronto. Over four months, you will develop quantitative models, high-frequency trading systems, and scalable solutions supporting equities market making and risk management, with independence and guidance from experienced developers, researchers, and quants.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement quantitative models supporting market-making activities.
- Design and maintain high-frequency trading systems and infrastructure.
- Build scalable, reliable technical solutions for trading-related business problems.
- Implement solutions independently with support from developers, researchers, and quantitative specialists.
Team
- Join RBC Capital Markets’ Electronic Market Making group within Global Equities.
- Contribute to equities trading strategies and systems with direct operational impact.
- Work in a collaborative, innovative environment on a major Canadian trading floor.
Requirements
- Pursue post-secondary education in engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or another quantitative field.
- Graduate from an undergraduate program in December 2027 or spring 2028.
- Demonstrate strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, or Java.
- Know established operating systems, including Unix, Linux, or Windows.
- Bring strong analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Prior finance experience is not required.
Preferred Experience
- Understanding of algorithmic trading and data-driven programming.
- Experience with high-frequency trading, game engine development, audio processing, or hardware development.
