About the role

RBC's Portfolio Risk Oversight team seeks a Data & AI Analyst Intern for Winter 2027 to analyze credit risk data, support risk reporting, and contribute to automation initiatives. This 4-month internship offers hands-on experience with data lifecycle and emerging AI tools in risk management.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Analyze credit risk and portfolio data to identify risks and trends within the BFS portfolio.
  • Support monthly and quarterly risk reporting for stakeholders and handle ad-hoc analytics requests.
  • Contribute to automation and modernization of reporting and analytics processes.
  • Develop skills in data extraction, transformation, aggregation, interpretation, and recommendation.
  • Participate in analytics design sessions to gather requirements and shape risk reporting frameworks.
  • Explore and apply emerging tools including generative AI to solve problems innovatively.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a quantitative post-secondary program like Data Science, Statistics, or Finance.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL for querying and analyzing large datasets.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and clear data presentation skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Good organizational skills to manage recurring deadlines and ad-hoc requests.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with financial services or credit risk concepts.
  • Experience with generative AI or LLM tools and prompt engineering.
  • Knowledge of building HTML-based or web dashboards.
  • Exposure to enterprise data environments like EDW, EDL, or Hadoop platforms.

Program Details

  • 4-month internship from January to April 2027.
  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, salaried position.
  • Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; must be located in Ontario during the term.
