About the role

Join RBC's Capital Markets Risk Oversight team as a Winter 2027 intern to analyze credit risk, support risk reporting, and develop data skills in a dynamic environment.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Analyze credit risk and portfolio data to identify risks and trends in wholesale credit book.
  • Support monthly and quarterly risk reporting for stakeholders and respond to ad-hoc requests.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on industry sectors like real estate within Capital Markets portfolio.
  • Build skills in data extraction, transformation, aggregation, interpretation, and recommendation.
  • Participate in analytics design sessions to shape reporting frameworks for risk management.
  • Use Excel, SQL, Python, and data visualization tools; explore generative AI applications.

Requirements - Must Have

  • Enrolled in a quantitative post-secondary program (Finance, Economics, Data Science, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy.
  • Proficient in Excel (advanced formulas), SQL, Python for data analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Ability to communicate complex data insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; self-starter mindset.

Requirements - Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with wholesale lending and credit risk fundamentals.
  • Exposure to financial statement analysis and macroeconomic trends.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry and credit risk analytics.
  • Experience with generative AI or LLM tools applied to credit risk.
  • Exposure to enterprise data environments like EDW, EDL, or Hadoop platforms.

Program Details

  • 4-month Winter 2027 internship from January to April 2027.
  • Must return to school after internship or require full 4-month term to graduate.
  • Located in Ontario; flexible work arrangements discussed with manager.
  • Full-time, salaried position with 37.5 work hours per week.
