About the role

Join RBC's Group Risk Management as a Winter 2027 intern to support ALM risk data engineering and automation. Work on data pipelines, validation, AI tooling, and reporting automation in a 4-month co-op role based in Toronto.

Role Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for ALM risk data consolidation.
  • Develop validation logic in SQL and Python to reconcile risk data with source systems.
  • Automate data quality checks with rule-driven pass/fail reporting.
  • Apply AI-assisted tools to accelerate pipeline development and documentation.
  • Schedule recurring data and reporting jobs for automated execution and alerts.
  • Monitor pipeline runs, resolve failures, and investigate data issues.

Candidate Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Canadian post-secondary institution in computer science, data science, or related quantitative field.
  • Exposure to ETL/ELT concepts and data transformation logic.
  • Proficient in Python for data manipulation and automation.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Familiarity with AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
  • Self-driven, comfortable with ambiguity, and clear communicator with non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of job scheduling or workflow orchestration tools like Airflow.
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI for data visualization.
  • Understanding of financial markets, balance sheet management, or risk management.

Program Details

  • 4-month Winter 2027 co-op placement from January to April.
  • Must return to school after April 2027 or require full 4-month work term to graduate.
  • Located in Ontario for the duration of the work term.
  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, salaried position.
