About the role

RBC Capital Markets offers a summer analyst opportunity within a highly technical quantitative trading team. Analysts help develop strategies, improve trading-system speed, evaluate models and technologies, paper trade, and learn products including FX, equities, interest rates, and ETFs. The program provides quantitative education and exposure to electronic trading with potential full-time opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing trading strategies, improving trading-system speed, and evaluating models and technologies.
• Paper trade within the team’s asset class while working with voice traders to learn markets.
• Gain experience with traded products, including foreign exchange, equities, interest rates, and exchange-traded funds.
• Work alongside mathematicians, software engineers, and data scientists managing automated trading strategies.

Program Experience

• Participate in comprehensive education covering quantitative skills and decision-making capabilities.
• Learn about high-frequency markets, high-performance code, mathematics, statistics, and electronic trading operations.
• Build understanding of quantitative trading careers and explore opportunities across finance through networking.
• Summer participation may lead to a potential full-time offer.

Requirements

• Expected graduation in Winter 2027 or Spring 2028 from an accredited four-year college, university, or master’s program.
• Study mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
• Strong programming skills in Python and at least one compiled language, such as Java or C++.
• Manage multiple competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
• Demonstrate reliability, proactivity, diligence, curiosity, and commitment to continuous skills development.

Work Details

• Full-time, salaried student/co-op fixed-term position with a 40-hour workweek.
