About the role
QRT’s 2027 internship offers software engineering and quantitative development placements in London, Paris, Wrocław, or Zurich. Interns join teams building research, trading, investment, analytics, and risk technology, work on defined technical projects with experienced colleagues, and may be considered for a full-time graduate role after strong performance.
Role and responsibilities
- Build systems, platforms, and tools supporting QRT’s research, trading, and investment activities.
- Contribute to production technology where performance, reliability, and sound engineering judgement matter.
- Work with engineers, quantitative developers, researchers, and traders on defined technical problems.
- Develop software engineering or quantitative development solutions based on your interests and strengths.
Potential projects
- Build an AI-powered static-analysis tool identifying double-deletion and memory-management issues.
- Extend an exchange simulator with market orders, time-in-force instructions, and algorithmic orders.
- Extend a risk-data platform supporting trading in a new trade type.
- Create a lightweight trading interface with order entry, market, position, and activity views.
- Build high-performance C++ real-time trading systems and low-latency execution infrastructure.
- Develop quantitative research platforms, machine-learning systems, data pipelines, and research or trading tools.
Requirements
- Be a penultimate- or final-year student completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- Study a STEM discipline such as computer science, physics, mathematics, or related engineering.
- Be on track for a 2:1 or above from a leading institution.
- Demonstrate proficiency in C++, C#, or Python.
- Show hands-on software engineering experience through projects, open source, hobbies, internships, or academic work.
- Be curious, proactive, self-motivated, thoughtful, and comfortable taking ownership of problems.
Selection process
- Submit an online application; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early applications are recommended.
- Complete a coding challenge focused on core programming and problem-solving skills if selected.
- Attend interviews at an assessment centre or via Microsoft Teams, covering technical thinking and collaboration.
