Programme
Internship
Location
London
Duration
3–6 months for internships, or full-time for graduate opportunities
About the role
QRT’s London FPGA Engineering programme offers penultimate- and final-year students a 3–6-month internship, with some permanent graduate opportunities starting in 2027. You will build, verify and optimise ultra-low-latency FPGA systems for live trading, working across SystemVerilog, C++ and Python with hardware and software engineers.
Programme and team
- Based in London, the programme starts in 2027 and offers penultimate- and final-year internships.
- Internships provide experience on real projects with engineers, researchers and traders working on live problems.
- Strong internship performance may lead to consideration for a full-time graduate role.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and optimise FPGA-based platforms used in live trading.
- Use SystemVerilog, C++ and Python to build, test and refine low-latency systems.
- Develop and verify FPGA functionality for market-data processing and order execution.
- Integrate FPGA components with QRT’s wider trading infrastructure alongside hardware and software engineers.
- Debug and profile designs, analysing latency, resource utilisation and other performance constraints.
- Explore research and development approaches that improve FPGA system performance and capabilities.
Selection process
- Applications are submitted online and reviewed on a rolling basis; early application is recommended.
- Selected candidates complete a technical interview with the relevant team.
- Shortlisted candidates attend on-site or Microsoft Teams interviews covering technical foundations, reasoning and collaboration.
