About the role
Join Old Mission's Compliance Team as a Co-Op student in Chicago, supporting surveillance, research, and compliance operations in a global trading firm. Gain mentorship and exposure to compliance, operations, and risk functions.
Role Responsibilities
- Research new trading initiatives for compliance pathways.
- Use external databases like FINRA's CRD and My Compliance Office.
- Support daily surveillance of options, futures, and equity trading.
- Manage daily functions such as CAT reporting and symbol registrations.
- Review compliance practices against regulations and best practices.
Candidate Requirements
- Rising senior in business, finance, economics, or related field based in Chicago.
- Interest in long-term career in Compliance, Risk, or Operations.
- Ability to balance coursework and work obligations.
- Familiarity with large data sets and programming languages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of exchange/OTC trading and market making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam.
- Prior internship experience in the industry.
- Experience with Python or SQL.
Work Environment & Skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- Works well independently and in teams.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Compensation & Schedule
- $30/hour, equivalent to $62,400 annually based on 40 hours/week.
- Non-exempt position eligible for overtime pay per law.
- 15–25 hours per week, flexible schedule.
- Term-renewable position with potential for full-time hire.
