Client Services Analyst - Japanese Corporate Banking

The Client Services Analyst supports Japanese Corporate Banking clients by managing inquiries, pricing loans and deposits, booking transactions, and ensuring client satisfaction. The role involves client interaction, fraud monitoring, and inter-department coordination to support banking operations and growth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor maturing loans, deposits, and FX transactions, proactively addressing client funding and forex needs.
  • Determine applicable rates based on relationship status and credit approval, coordinating with Global Market Division.
  • Instruct back office to book transactions after agreement on terms, ensuring credit capacity and compliance.
  • Close foreign exchange deals including spot and forward option contracts in major currencies.
  • Arrange standby domestic/Cayman/money market transactions meeting internal guidelines.

Risk and Compliance

  • Investigate suspicious activities and wire transfers to prevent fraud, contacting clients for authorization.
  • Monitor non-sufficient funds (NSF) and work with clients and relationship managers to prevent overdrafts.
  • Ensure correct general ledger data by monitoring work-in-progress accounts.
  • Act as first line of defense protecting bank’s capital, liquidity, and reputation.

Inter-department Coordination and Management Support

  • Maintain knowledge of bank policies, credit procedures, transaction banking products, and market conditions.
  • Collaborate with Transaction Banking Client delivery team to resolve client issues.
  • Participate in departmental and cross-unit projects and Kaizen activities to improve operations.
  • Update databases, produce reports, and respond to client and management inquiries.
  • Assist with audits and investigate past due and pending items.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum one year client services experience in financial services required.
  • Preferred experience in corporate banking, wealth management, or senior retail branch roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate banking products and operations including loans, deposits, FX, and trade finance.
  • Excellent communication skills; Japanese language proficiency preferred.
