About the role
This 13-week summer analyst programme in Glasgow offers penultimate-year university students practical experience in Morgan Stanley’s second-line Non-Financial Risk organisation. Analysts support regulatory, compliance, operational risk and financial crimes activities, receive structured training and networking opportunities, and may be considered for a full-time Glasgow Non-Financial Risk Analyst position the following year.
Responsibilities
- Analyze regulations, rules and related Non-Financial Risk industry and regulatory developments.
- Support responses to Non-Financial Risk business and regulatory inquiries.
- Monitor transactions, employee activities and communications.
- Participate in risk assessments and analyze the firm’s compliance environment.
- Analyze operational risk incidents to identify themes and patterns.
- Support financial crime inquiries, investigations, client risk assessments and a group project presentation.
Programme and training
- The 13-week programme commences in June and targets university students in their penultimate year.
- Complete a Firmwide induction alongside peers from other divisions.
- Attend two days of classroom training covering products, industry knowledge, personal effectiveness and technical skills.
- Receive on-the-job training, Lunch & Learns, webinars, networking events and work-shadowing opportunities.
- Participate in senior management seminars, social events and professional networking activities.
- Successful analysts may be offered full-time positions in the following year’s Glasgow programme.
Candidate requirements
- Be an undergraduate student with outstanding academic achievements and be on track for a 2:1 honours degree or equivalent.
- Demonstrate interest in a career in risk management, compliance or financial crimes.
- Have strong verbal and written communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Show attention to detail, analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
- Understand and evaluate complex information quickly.
- Have strong project management skills and be a team-oriented, client-service-focused professional.
