2027 ISG Central Risk Industrial Placement Internship (London)

About the role

A 12-month London-based industrial placement in Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Securities Group Central Risk Team. Interns receive firmwide and divisional training, then support non-financial risk activities across operational, regulatory, conduct, third-party, control, and project areas while working with global stakeholders and experienced risk professionals.

Placement and Team

• Based in London, the placement begins in June and runs for 12 months.
• Work within the ISG Central Risk Team after completing initial training and induction.
• Support risk management across Institutional Securities Group businesses and partner with global stakeholders.
• The team has members in New York, London, Mumbai, and Hong Kong.

Responsibilities

• Organise and run senior internal non-financial risk forums.
• Manage regulatory change initiatives and respond to regulatory requests.
• Monitor employee conduct incidents, identify trends, and support related training.
• Support ISG third-party risk management across the service lifecycle.
• Partner with control and support functions to resolve items and progress projects.

Training

• Complete orientation covering the Firm’s businesses and transition into a corporate environment.
• Attend divisional training focused on core skills required for the role.
• Build networks through group projects and events with peers, mentors, and managers.

Requirements

• Undergraduate student whose structured degree course includes a year in industry.
• Alternatively, be in the final year or required to complete a long-term internship.
• Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Analyse and interpret complex information quickly and accurately.
• Have a strong aptitude for numbers; a financial discipline is not essential.
