About the role
Six-month Fixed Income internship in Morgan Stanley Investment Management, beginning January 2027. Interns work alongside experienced investment professionals, supporting investment research, portfolio analysis, presentations, reporting, and business challenges. Candidates may be considered for Emerging Markets Debt or Broad Markets Fixed Income teams in London.
Teams
- Emerging Markets Debt covers sovereign, corporate, currency, and interest-rate strategies across emerging markets.
- The team conducts country, macroeconomic, political, policy, and central-bank research, with emphasis on Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Broad Markets manages active multi-sector, investment-grade credit, and sovereign fixed-income portfolios.
- Broad Markets opportunities may involve client engagement, product strategy, and business development.
Responsibilities
- Integrate with the investment team and develop understanding of strategies, portfolio positioning, and market developments.
- Prepare presentations, reports, research materials, and supporting documentation.
- Analyse information, identify key insights, and help solve complex investment or business challenges.
Requirements
- Excellent academic background; applicants must have graduated or be able to commit to a full-time, six-month internship.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisation, with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and effective working independently or collaboratively.
- Demonstrated interest in financial markets, economics, and investment management.
Relevant Skills
- Interest in emerging markets or global macroeconomics is relevant to the Emerging Markets team.
- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is strongly preferred for Emerging Markets opportunities.
- Academic background in Latin American history or economics is strongly preferred for Emerging Markets opportunities.
- Ability to communicate complex investment concepts broadly is relevant to Broad Markets.
- Bloomberg or Aladdin familiarity is advantageous for Broad Markets opportunities.
