About the role
Paid, full-time summer internship in Morgan Stanley Fund Services’ Glasgow Accounting team. Interns support hedge fund accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, investor accounting, trade matching and portfolio analysis while developing knowledge of alternative investment funds. The programme includes firmwide induction, technical training, networking, work shadowing and on-the-job learning.
Responsibilities
- Compute monthly net asset values for hedge funds.
- Process and account for fund securities and financial transactions daily.
- Reconcile fund assets with custodians, prime brokers and counterparties.
- Prepare draft year-end financial statements for hedge fund clients.
- Support investor and shareholder accounting, including series and side-pocket accounting.
- Provide trade matching, treasury management and portfolio analysis services.
Programme and Training
- Complete a firmwide induction alongside interns from other divisions.
- Attend Talent Management training sessions and receive substantial on-the-job training.
- Participate in Lunch & Learns, networking events and work-shadowing opportunities.
- Gain exposure to hedge fund products, strategies, fee structures and investor-level accounting.
Requirements
- Undergraduate student with outstanding academic achievement.
- On track for a 2.1 honours degree or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Team player with excellent communication abilities.
- Able to multitask and maintain close attention to detail.
- Client-service oriented.
