About the role

This six-month Paris internship places you in Morgan Stanley’s IED Business Control Unit Non-Financial Risk team within Sales & Trading. You will support first-line operational, conduct, fraud, regulatory, technology, and reputational risk management through controls, monitoring, regulatory initiatives, and business continuity projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support operational risk activities, including Risk and Control Self-Assessments, risk metrics, monitoring, and incident reporting.
  • Help establish controls, processes, and technology for fraud-risk supervision, including trade surveillance and employee monitoring.
  • Support conduct-risk controls, incident identification, escalation, and remediation for employees and contingent workers.
  • Help establish and test Business Continuity Plans, including Business Impact Analyses, for IED businesses.
  • Facilitate New Product Approval processes and support regulatory, non-regulatory, and electronic trading risk initiatives.
  • Review information-security, entitlement, segregation-of-duties, supervisory, and pre-trade-limit controls; support regulatory implementation.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate documentation for a variety of derivative products.
  • Provide general coverage for business risk questions, issues, and initiatives.
  • Support supervisors with controls addressing employee trading, mandatory vacation adherence, market conduct, compliance, and fraud.
  • Work on projects designed to broaden understanding and improve the desk’s productivity and efficiency.

Placement and Training

  • The approximately six-month program is based in Morgan Stanley’s Paris office, the firm’s European Union hub.
  • You will be assigned to the IED Business Control Unit Non-Financial Risk desk.
  • Receive on-the-job training while working alongside experienced professionals on varied projects.
