About the role
Morgan Stanley’s Operations Industrial Placement Programme in Frankfurt offers students practical experience across settlement, client service, asset servicing, regulatory controls, operational risk, and cash management. Participants support daily financial operations, controls, reconciliations, reporting, and process improvements while developing knowledge of post-trade infrastructure and financial products.
Placement Opportunities
- Security Settlement: Support timely trade settlement, reconcile instruction matching criteria, manage risk, and calculate daily statistics.
- Client Service: Liaise with Operations teams, business units, and German-speaking clients while improving operational processes.
- Asset Service: Process dividend, distribution, and coupon payments; prepare event records, reconcile balances, and coordinate internal teams.
- Client Regulatory Service Control: Execute KYC, AML, and market regulation controls, support audits, and improve regulatory processes.
- Operational Risk and Regulatory Control: Identify, assess, monitor, and report operational risks; support reconciliations, reporting, and account opening.
- Cash Management: Support cash funding, forecasting, liquidity management, reconciliations, counterparty investigations, and collateral financing projects.
Candidate Profile
- Undergraduate student with outstanding academic achievement, graduating in 2029 or 2030.
- On track to achieve a 2:1 honours degree or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, leadership, and project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to understand and evaluate complex information quickly.
- Team-oriented and client-service focused.
Programme Details
- The placement is intended for students whose degree programme includes a compulsory year in industry.
- Participants become integrated members of their assigned Operations team.
- The programme develops knowledge of post-trade infrastructure, financial products, regulations, controls, and banking operations.
- Some roles provide experience with Excel, Power BI, Morgan Stanley tools, and data warehouses.
