About the role
Maven Securities’ nine-week Amsterdam Trader Summer Internship introduces penultimate-year students to options market making. Interns receive structured options training, practise in trading simulations, shadow multiple desks, complete a project and develop practical decision-making skills. Successful interns may be considered for Maven’s Graduate Trader Programme the following year.
Responsibilities
- Build practical trading skills in Maven’s simulation environment using real market scenarios.
- Use traders’ tools or develop your own while observing live-market trades.
- Shadow traders across different desks and learn about their daily approaches.
- Complete an independent Reading Week project exploring an area of interest.
- Apply learning through mock trading, strategy testing and trading-related project work.
Training and Development
- Begin in London with three weeks of interactive options theory classes led by a trader.
- Learn options theory, pricing, probability, risk, macroeconomics and technical concepts.
- Progress into Amsterdam-based trading simulation and mock trading after classroom training.
- Receive ongoing feedback and progress through clear learning milestones.
- Learn how artificial intelligence is integrated into Maven’s daily work.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Be a penultimate-year undergraduate or master’s student.
- Demonstrate strong numeracy skills and a good understanding of probability and statistics.
- Show genuine interest in financial markets and curiosity to learn.
- Be willing to adopt and use emerging artificial intelligence technologies.
- Demonstrate initiative, critical problem-solving, adaptability and effective decision-making.
- Communicate clearly, collaborate effectively and take ownership under uncertainty.
Programme Details
- The programme runs from 21 June to 20 August 2027.
- The internship is based in Amsterdam, with its initial training period in London.
- Successful interns may be considered for the Graduate Trader Programme the following year.
- Visa sponsorship is available for selected roles, subject to Maven’s requirements.
- Interns receive a Maven buddy, structured reviews, regular feedback and day-to-day support.
