2027 Commodities and Global Markets Summer Internship Program

About the role

Join Macquarie’s 16-week Calgary internship in Commodities and Global Markets. Gain practical experience across commodity markets while learning from specialists in trading, engineering, data science, risk management, and logistics. Complete meaningful work, receive technical training and mentorship, and present a project to senior management.

Role

• Work within Commodities and Global Markets, supporting capital, financing, risk management, market access, execution, and logistics services.
• Learn from experts across power, gas, emissions, agriculture, oil, and resources sectors.
• Explore commodity-based index products offered to institutional investors.
• Based in Macquarie’s Calgary office.

Program

• Complete meaningful, challenging work connecting theoretical knowledge from school with practical experience.
• Attend orientation covering Macquarie’s business groups and receive technical training.
• Receive support and guidance from a manager and aligned mentor.
• Participate in philanthropic and social events with fellow interns.
• Present a project completed during the internship to senior management.

Requirements

• Be an undergraduate student expecting to graduate between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Demonstrate critical-thinking ability, strong numerical skills, and clear communication.
• Collaborate effectively and build strong working relationships.
• Show interest in financial services, plus a proactive, resourceful, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and comfort using Excel.
