Intern - Software Engineer

About the role

This 12-week summer internship places you in LSEG’s Optimisation Core Technology Team within Post Trade Engineering in London. You will work with experienced engineers on cloud-based systems supporting optimisation services, solve real problems using Python, and contribute to applications that securely process client risk and trade data.

Responsibilities

• Build and research improvements to applications and the supporting technology environment.
• Design workflows for data-quality checks on financial data submitted by clients.
• Collaborate with Analytics teams to apply pricing algorithms within data-quality checks.
• Build internal portal screens used by Product teams to perform optimisations.
• Implement connectivity with external booking systems, trade stores, and related platforms.
• Enhance task-queueing systems to improve resource utilisation.

Team and Technology

• Work within a team of 5–10 engineers and collaborate directly with Product Development.
• Support systems that securely process client risk and trade data for optimisation services.
• Develop cloud-based applications hosted on AWS, using Lambda, EC2, RDS, and Redshift.
• Provide client feedback about results and potential improvements to parameters and data.

Recruitment Process

• Complete technical and coding assessments evaluating coding ability, logical reasoning, and problem-solving.
• Complete an untimed immersive online assessment about working at LSEG.
• Attend a strength-based video interview followed by a virtual half-day assessment centre.
• Assessment centres are delivered virtually, and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
