About the role
Join Jump Trading’s APAC Python team in Shanghai as an intern building production systems for trading, data, post-trade, and middle-office workflows. You will develop pipelines, analytics, and infrastructure, own operational issues, and collaborate with trading, operations, finance, and research teams in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python ETL pipelines for vendor, tick, bar, and trading data across millions of daily records.
- Build infrastructure supporting new trading businesses, markets, and strategic initiatives.
- Perform post-trade statistical analysis, anomaly detection, exchange-behavior modelling, and infrastructure-impact measurement.
- Build systems for clearing, reconciliation, fee computation, position management, and PnL processing.
- Parse broker files, enrich trades with reference data, and support migration of components to Rust.
- Debug production incidents, trace data through pipelines, and own root-cause resolution.
Candidate Profile
- Write clean, production-quality code and maintain high engineering standards.
- Use rigorous analysis of large datasets to investigate complex issues and challenge simple conclusions.
- Demonstrate ownership, initiative, curiosity, and comfort working through ambiguity.
- Collaborate effectively with trading, operations, finance, and engineering teams.
- Thrive in a fast-paced trading environment with changing priorities.
- Use AI tools productively while applying judgment to verify their outputs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python and hands-on experience building and maintaining production systems.
- Comfort working on Linux, including command-line tools, debugging, and bare-metal environments.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Solid debugging skills and ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kafka or other data pipeline tooling.
- Background in statistics or data analysis.
- Experience with Rust or C++.
- Competitive programming experience.
- Finance or economics experience is not required; the domain will be taught.
