About the role

As a C++ software engineering intern in Shanghai, join Jump Trading’s APAC team to build production systems spanning live trading, risk controls, back testing, and post-trade analysis. Write high-performance software, investigate incidents, and collaborate with trading, operations, finance, engineering, and research teams in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

  • Work within the APAC C++ team at the intersection of trading and technology.
  • Build and maintain live trading, risk, back testing, and post-trade analysis infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Build business-specific trading platforms supporting new businesses, markets, strategic initiatives, and more efficient trading.
  • Design risk modules monitoring performance and applying pre-trade and post-trade controls across trading system components.
  • Build and maintain back testing infrastructure for researchers evaluating systematic strategies against large-scale historical market data.
  • Produce reliable datasets and high-throughput C++ compute engines for order and market-data analytics.
  • Own production systems by debugging incidents, tracing data pipelines, and fixing root causes.

Profile

  • Write clean, production-quality code and take pride in building robust, maintainable solutions.
  • Take ownership, work proactively, and push through ambiguity in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with trading, operations, finance, engineering, and research teams.
  • Learn quickly as priorities shift, projects move rapidly, and new skills become necessary.
  • Investigate systems, markets, data flows, and large datasets with curiosity and analytical rigor.
  • Use AI tools productively while applying judgment to evaluate their outputs critically.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in C++ with hands-on experience working with large-scale systems.
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, system design, networking concepts, and operating systems.
  • Strong debugging skills and the ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases quickly.
  • Comfort working on Linux, including command-line tools, debugging, and bare-metal environments.
  • Interest in working full-time in an APAC office after graduation.
