Programme Details

  • Join the Software Engineer Programme in London or Glasgow for a 12-month industrial placement.
  • Complete induction covering technology strategies, products, systems, and the wider technology community.
  • Develop technical foundations through ongoing training, mentorship, networking, senior speaker sessions, and peer support.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and peers in a modern, team-based engineering environment.
  • Top performers may be invited to join a full-time role upon graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot software solutions for digital applications and systems.
  • Write secure, high-quality code in at least one programming language, following established standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, managers, and stakeholders to understand problems and deliver reliable solutions.
  • Document solutions, articulate technical issues clearly, and communicate effectively across teams and tools.
  • Use approved AI development tools for coding, refactoring, testing, documentation, and productivity improvements.
  • Validate AI-generated outputs through peer review, automated testing, secure coding, and responsible engineering practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Pursue a bachelor's or fifth-year master's degree, graduating between January 2029 and July 2029.
  • Study computer science, information science, information technology, data science, artificial intelligence, big data, or related fields.
  • Demonstrate oral and written fluency in English.
  • Understand basic industry-wide technology trends and software engineering best practices.
  • Demonstrate secure coding ability in at least one programming language.
  • Apply automation, modern tooling, and approved AI tools responsibly across the software development lifecycle.

  • Show strong interpersonal, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Show curiosity about emerging technologies and assess when and how to apply them.
  • Apply engineering skills to ambiguous problems by experimenting, iterating, and incorporating feedback.
  • Use sound judgment when validating AI-generated outputs and remain accountable for quality, correctness, and security.
