About the role

JPMorgan Chase’s Machine Learning Center of Excellence Summer Associate internship involves developing advanced NLP, LLM, and agentic AI solutions for complex business problems. Interns own research projects, collaborate with mentors and stakeholders, build prototypes, evaluate models, and communicate findings, with potential full-time offers after successful completion.

Responsibilities

• Analyze structured and unstructured data through exploratory analysis, feature engineering, model development, and evaluation.
• Design agentic AI prototypes with multi-step workflows that use tools and reason across tasks.
• Experiment with retrieval-augmented generation, tool calling, fine-tuning, and agent harness design.
• Develop frameworks evaluating the quality, reliability, and safety of LLM and agent outputs.
• Collaborate with mentors, business stakeholders, and engineers to advance AI solutions toward production.
• Document methods and results, then present findings to technical and business audiences.

Program Context

• Work alongside MLCOE mentors, business experts, and technologists on projects with business or research impact.
• The internship includes project work, mentorship, and a speaker series with senior leaders.
• Projects may integrate into product pipelines or contribute to published research at leading AI conferences.
• The program begins in June, depending on the participant’s academic calendar.
• Successful completion may lead to a full-time employment offer within JPMorgan Chase’s hybrid work model.
