About the role
Jefferies’ London Information Technology Summer Internship offers penultimate-year students the opportunity to pursue a technology career in financial services. The IT team supports investment banking, sales, trading, research and asset management through business technology, applications, data, artificial intelligence and machine learning tools.
Programme Details
- Location: Jefferies’ London office.
- Start date: June 2027.
- The programme is intended for students graduating in 2028.
- Only one application may be submitted per recruitment year.
About Information Technology
- Supports Jefferies’ sales, trading, research and banking colleagues with technology solutions.
- Deploys and manages technology infrastructure that keeps Jefferies operating and colleagues connected.
- Develops applications and tools for Jefferies’ clients.
- Uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify insights from global data.
Candidate Profile
- Penultimate-year undergraduate student studying Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
- Strong academic background.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Motivation to pursue a technology career in financial services after graduation.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving and written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of financial and accounting fundamentals.
Technical Skills
- Programming knowledge is desirable, including MATLAB, KDB, SQL, C++, Java, Visual Basic or C# .NET.
- Python and pandas, or Angular, TypeScript and React exposure is relevant.
- Database knowledge, including Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server or data warehouses, is desirable.
- Ability to build intermediate to advanced SQL queries.
- Exposure to AWS, Atlassian tools, API integrations, AI, machine learning or GenAI is beneficial.
- Bloomberg API knowledge is a plus.
