2027 Risk Management - 12 Month Placement Intern (London, June 2027 Start)

About the role

A 12-month risk management placement in Jefferies’ London office, starting June 2027. The intern will rotate flexibly across risk teams while contributing to ad hoc projects, gaining exposure to market, credit, operational, quantitative, enterprise, and COO risk activities. The role involves analysing, monitoring, and challenging financial and non-financial risks.

Role and Team

• Work within Jefferies’ Risk Management Department, which provides independent oversight and risk analysis.
• Experience multiple risk teams through extended assignments and ad hoc projects.
• Contribute across market, credit, operational, quantitative, enterprise, and COO risk activities.

Responsibilities

• Help establish and implement risk management frameworks, policies, controls, and risk appetite statements.
• Identify and assess financial, non-financial, emerging, and new-business risks.
• Measure and monitor risks using quantitative and qualitative methods and key risk metrics.
• Monitor limit utilisation and support compliance with established risk limits.
• Perform independent reviews and challenge risk-taking, hedging activities, exposures, and vulnerabilities.
• Support risk process, technology, project, resourcing, and model review initiatives.

Candidate Profile

• Graduating in 2028 and undertaking a placement year from June 2026 to June 2027.
• Work effectively in a team and remain organised under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrate problem-solving, decision-making, and self-motivation.
• Have a basic understanding of financial markets.
• Have experience manipulating data in Excel or practical coding experience.
