About the role
Treasury Summer Analyst interns in New York gain hands-on experience supporting Jefferies’ Corporate Treasury, which manages funding, liquidity, capital deployment, and relationships with banks and rating agencies. Interns complete research, analysis, and recommendation-based projects, receive mentoring and formal reviews, and contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative investment-banking environment.
Role and Responsibilities
- Complete projects involving research, analysis, and recommendations while contributing creative input and adding value from the first day.
- Monitor and report on liquidity, cash usage, risk, balance sheet, intraday activity, and unfunded commitments.
- Support Treasury’s efforts to manage firm funding, liquidity, capital deployment, and business-unit cash requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, business units, senior management, banks, creditors, and rating agencies.
- Assist with bank and custodial relationships, account setup, documentation, fee analysis, and operational issue escalation.
- Maintain high standards of excellence, collaboration, integrity, professionalism, and relationship management.
Treasury Functions
- Liquidity risk management uses market-wide and firm-specific stress measures, including Maximum Liquidity Outflow and Cash Capital.
- Capital planning covers capital needs, debt-market funding, allocation, regulatory capital, and monitoring debt issuance and maturities.
- Bank Relations manages credit and trading relationships, bank fees, account-opening processes, KYC requirements, and legal agreements.
- Treasury supports liquidity through business cycles and periods of financial distress within regulatory and firm risk requirements.
Internship Experience
- Begin with an orientation program before undertaking day-to-day responsibilities.
- Receive support from colleagues serving as instructors and mentors throughout the internship.
- Participate in formal performance reviews during the program.
