About the role

Graduate quant role within Jefferies’ Risk Management Department in London. You will support risk measurement, model validation, risk analytics and systems implementation, while gaining hands-on experience through research, analysis and recommendations. The programme offers orientation, mentoring and structured reviews for candidates completing or expecting to complete a relevant Master’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Support risk measurement methodologies, model validation, and risk systems and process implementation.
• Work across market and credit risk to maintain consistent firmwide risk assessment methodologies.
• Independently review and validate models used to value the firm’s inventory.
• Conduct research, analysis and recommendations while contributing input and value from day one.
• Identify, assess, monitor and manage financial and non-financial risks using quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Report risk exposures, monitor limits and escalate risk concerns or breaches.

Candidate Profile

• Completed or expected to complete a Master’s degree or equivalent programme in a relevant quantitative discipline.
• Relevant fields include finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, financial engineering, engineering or data science.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, databases, system implementation and Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of financial risk analytics, market risk, risk modelling and portfolio analytics across asset classes.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Able to multitask, prioritise, work under pressure, and collaborate independently or within a team.

• Work in Jefferies’ Quantitative Analytics group, including Model Validation or Risk Analytics.
• Receive support from colleagues acting as instructors and mentors throughout the graduate programme.
