2027 Financial Controllers Summer Analyst Program – New York and Jersey City

About the role

The 2027 Financial Controllers Summer Analyst Program offers a 10-week internship in New York or Jersey City. Interns gain hands-on experience across finance and accounting functions, including financial reporting, regulatory requirements, valuations, forecasting, controls, and business-unit support, while working with Finance, Risk, Compliance, and business management teams.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience with Jefferies’ finance and accounting activities.
• Support the accuracy and integrity of financial records, regulatory filings, and internal management reports.
• Complete research, analysis, and recommendations while contributing ideas and value to assigned teams.
• Analyze, reconcile, explain, and report financial information related to supported business activities.
• Interact regularly with operational groups, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and business management teams.
• Work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Potential Controllers Teams

• Balance Sheet, Legal Entity, and Corporate Control manages balance-sheet controls, legal-entity analysis, books, and records.
• Business Unit Controllers support Equities, Fixed Income, Asset Management, Commodities, and Investment Banking divisions.
• Financial Planning and Analysis prepares management reports, budgets, forecasts, profitability analyses, and ad hoc reporting.
• Regulatory Controllers prepare SEC and FINRA filings, monitor regulatory capital, and address regulatory inquiries.
• Valuation Controllers perform independent price verification in conjunction with Risk Management and Accounting Policy.
• Accounting Policy and External Reporting manages accounting policies, technical advice, financial statements, and SEC filings.

Program Experience

• Complete an orientation program before beginning day-to-day responsibilities.
• Receive ongoing instruction and mentorship from colleagues throughout the internship.
• Participate in formal performance reviews designed to maximize the internship experience.
• Work in a fast-paced, challenging, and intellectually stimulating environment.

Requirements

• Pursue an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree or equivalent four-year program.
• Expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Broad understanding of financial markets and/or accounting.
• Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated professionalism, adaptability, multitasking, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
