Role and Responsibilities
- Work closely with full-time engineers on Linux infrastructure projects.
- Maintain and improve production trading system infrastructure.
- Investigate performance issues from application to hardware layers.
- Fix kernel bugs and respond to datacenter issues in real time.
- Analyze data to enhance monitoring system predictiveness.

Project Work
- Spend majority of time on a challenging, mentor-guided project.
- Projects include file system resilience, boot diagnostics automation.
- Design scalable systems for TCP diagnostic data collection.
- Extend infrastructure provisioning for new compute capacity.
- Deliver real value addressing current firm challenges.

Operational Experience
- Participate in real-time operational work with full-time staff.
- Resolve emerging production infrastructure issues.
- Conduct root-cause analyses of system failures.
- Collaborate with multiple teams across the firm.

Candidate Requirements
- Knowledge of operating system fundamentals and computer architecture.
- Experience with systems programming concepts like sockets and virtual memory.
- Basic understanding of network protocols.
- Comfortable using Linux command-line and troubleshooting system health.
- Problem-solving through coding in any language with robust software engineering.
