About the role
Join Jane Street as a Hardware Engineer working on FPGA and ASIC applications using software and hardware design skills. You'll use OCaml, Hardcaml, Verilog, and C to design and test hardware with a software engineering approach.
Role Responsibilities
- Design and implement new FPGA or ASIC applications from the ground up.
- Extend and refine internal high-level design and testing tools.
- Work primarily with OCaml and Hardcaml for RTL design and testing.
- Use Verilog and C for hardware design and integration tasks.
- Collaborate with the hardware team on FPGA and ASIC projects.
- Apply programming language technology to improve hardware design processes.
Candidate Requirements
- Comfortable with a software programming language.
- Experience with hardware description languages like VHDL, Verilog, Chisel, or Pymtl.
- Familiarity with FPGA or ASIC vendor tools such as Vivado, Quartus, Genus, or Innovus.
- Experience building working hardware projects academically, professionally, or personally.
- Interest in using FPGAs or ASICs in networking contexts.
- Fluent in English and eager to learn and collaborate.
About the Team and Tools
- Hardware team works on FPGA and ASIC designs using Hardcaml, an OCaml library.
- Hardcaml integrates tightly with internal development environments.
- No prior Hardcaml knowledge required; training provided.
- Exposure to foundational libraries and tools used internally.
- Team values intellectual curiosity, humility, and collaboration.
- Focus on software engineering mindset applied to hardware design.
